Bank of Canada Names Two Deputy Governors in Key Leadership Shift
Published: 2 hours ago
The Bank of Canada has appointed two experienced economists to fill vacancies on its governing council, reinforcing its leadership as it manages monetary policy and financial stability. Marc-André Gosselin, currently managing director of economic analysis, will become deputy governor in May after rising through the bank since 1999. Nicolas Vincent, previously serving as external deputy governor since 2023, will take on a full-time role in August and represent the bank as its G7 and G20 deputy. The appointments follow upcoming and recent departures within the leadership team. Sharon Kozicki is set to retire this summer, while Rhys Mendes recently left the bank to return to Toronto. The central bank will begin recruiting a new external deputy governor to replace Vincent. The governing council plays a central role in setting interest rates and guiding Canada’s monetary policy direction.
