Canada has moved to deepen Arctic security ties after long standing cooperation with Nordic partners, as Defence Minister David McGuinty signed a new agreement with Denmark. The memorandum of understanding, signed alongside officials from Greenland and the Faroe Islands at the Munich Security Conference, covers defence innovation, industrial cooperation, logistics support, personnel training, exercises and education. Officials said the deal reflects a shared commitment to transatlantic security and stronger coordination among NATO allies during a more complex global security environment. The signing came a month after U.S. President Donald Trump renewed threats to annex Greenland. Canada also opened a consulate in Nuuk earlier this month, signaling solidarity with Denmark. McGuinty said the move shows the Arctic is secure.
