Since the U.S. and Israel began attacking Iran on February 28, the conflict has rapidly escalated, with Iran retaliating with missile and drone strikes against Israel and Gulf states hosting U.S. bases. At least 1,230 people have been killed in Iran, including 175 schoolgirls and staff struck by a missile at a primary school in southern Iran. Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney spoke Monday with Qatar's Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, condemning Iranian missile and drone attacks on Qatar and calling for an immediate end to strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure, warning the conflict is worsening the global economic and energy situation.
