Canadian Wholesale Sales Up 2% in December

Canada's wholesale sales (excluding petroleum, petroleum products, and other hydrocarbons and excluding oilseed and grain) rose 2% in December 2025 to $86.1 billion, rebounding from a decline in November. The growth was driven by the motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories subsector, which increased 9.3% to $14.3 billion. Ontario led provincial sales gains rising 3.6% to $44 billion followed by Quebec's sales which increased 3.7% to $15.6 billion, while Alberta's sales fell 1.6% to $9.5 billion. Wholesale inventories rose 0.6% to $136.8 billion, annual wholesale sales reached $1.024 trillion in 2025, up 2.9% from 2024.
