Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen on Thursday welcomed high-level talks with the U.S. over Greenland’s future. The meetings in Washington between the U.S., Greenland, and Denmark aimed to ease the diplomatic crisis sparked by Trump’s Greenland threats. Rasmussen described the discussions as constructive and expressed cautious optimism, noting that new meetings are planned. “Things were escalating, but now we are back on track,” he said. “It’s not that we can conclude anything, but I am slightly more optimistic today than a week ago.” U.S. President Donald Trump had previously said he had the “framework of a future deal” regarding Greenland, signaling potential progress toward resolving tensions over the territory.
