EU Trade Balance Hits Record €28.4 Billion Surplus in Q4 2025

The European Union (EU) closed 2025 on a high note, recording a trade surplus of €28.4 billion in the fourth quarter, marking a continuation of the positive trade balance since in Q3 2023. The surplus was led by strong performances in chemicals and related products €49.3 billion, machinery and vehicles €42.3 billion, food, drinks and tobacco €10.8 billion and other goods €7.1 billion. However, the EU faced trade deficits in energy -€62.7 billion, other manufactured goods -€11.0 billion, and raw materials -€7.5 billion. Both imports and exports declined for the third consecutive quarter, with imports down 1.4% and exports down 0.8% compared to the previous quarter.
