Eurozone Retail Trade Remain Steady in October

The retail trade volume in the euro area and the EU remained stable in October 2025, according to Eurostat. This follows a growth of 0.1% in the euro area and 0.2% in the EU in September 2025. Compared with October 2024, retail sales rose by 1.5% in the euro area and 1.6% in the EU. Food, drinks and tobacco increased by 0.3% in the euro area and 0.4% in the EU, while non-food products fell 0.2% in both regions. Automotive fuel rose by 0.3% in the euro area and 0.5% in the EU. Luxembourg recorded the highest monthly gain at 3.6%, followed by Estonia (+1.7%), and Croatia (+1.4%), while Belgium (-1.3%), Austria (-0.6%), Ireland, and Sweden (both -0.4%) saw the largest decreases. Annually, Cyprus (+9.9%), Bulgaria (7.4%) and Malta (6.2%) recorded the highest increases. September's data was revised upward, lifting the euro area’s monthly rate to 0.1% and the EU’s to 0.2%.
