Germany's Inflation Rate Held Steady at 2.3% in November

Germany's inflation rate remained unchanged at 2.3% year-on-year in November 2025, matching October's rate, according to the Destatis. On a monthly basis, consumer prices decreased 0.2%, while the harmonised index of consumer prices rose 2.6%. The President of Destatis, Ruth Brand said the development of consumer prices has stabilised for now. Core inflation eased to 2.7% while inflation excluding energy remained at 2.5%. Service prices drove inflation up 3.5%, with notable increases in passenger rail transport (11.9%), combined passenger transport (11.4%), and social facilities (7.6%). Energy prices fell 0.1% as consumers benefited from lower electricity (-1.5%) and district heating (-0.7%) costs, while food prices rose 1.2%, with sugar, jam honey and other confectionery (9%) and meat products (4.2%) being more expensive.
