Iran Tension Might Spark a Wider Conflict as U.S. Shoots Down Iranian Drone Near Aircraft Carrier

Tensions between the U.S. and Iran escalated on Tuesday after a U.S. Navy F-35C fighter jet shot down an Iranian Shahed-139 drone approaching the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea. U.S. Central Command said the drone “aggressively approached” the carrier with “unclear intent” and ignored de-escalation efforts. The Lincoln, sailing about 500 miles from Iran’s southern coast, was unharmed, and no U.S. equipment was damaged.
