Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was selected Sunday by a clerical assembly following the killing of his father. Khamenei has not been seen publicly since his selection, and his first remarks were read aloud by a television presenter Thursday. An Iranian official told Reuters on Wednesday that he was lightly injured but continuing to operate after state television had earlier described him as war-wounded. President Trump, speaking on Fox News' "The Brian Kilmeade Show," said he believes Khamenei is alive but "damaged." In his first public comments, Khamenei vowed to keep the Strait of Hormuz closed and called on neighboring countries to shut U.S. bases or face Iranian strikes.
