After rising tensions from the Iran conflict and failed U.S.-Iran talks, the United States announced a blockade of Iranian ports. President Donald Trump said other nations would support the move, aimed at stopping ships entering or leaving Iran. The decision has increased global concern over the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for energy supplies. Britain quickly ruled out joining the blockade. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the U.K. would not be “dragged in” and is focused on reopening the strait. France’s President Emmanuel Macron confirmed plans to co-host talks for a “peaceful multinational” mission to restore navigation. Germany also rejected involvement, repeating it will not take part in military action as countries push for diplomatic solutions.
