US 30Y yield hits 5.27%, highest since 2007
The 30-year Treasury yield has surged to 5.27%, marking a 450-basis-point rise since 2020 lows and the highest level since June 2007. At this pace, 30-year mortgage rates are projected to exceed 7.50% by year-end. Fed Chair Warsh's advocacy for market-independent operation without Fed guidance is allowing yields to rise organically. This escalating trend in long-end rates will pressure USD pairs and affect carry trades.
