U.S. Treasury Reports $44.9 Billion Net Inflow in December

The U.S. Department of the Treasury released its Treasury International Capital (TIC) data for December 2025, showing a net inflow of $44.9 billion. This inflow consisted of $32.7 billion in private foreign investments and $12.2 billion in official foreign investments. Foreign investors increased their holdings of long-term U.S. securities by $62.9 billion, with private investors accounting for $55.7 billion and official institutions $7.2 billion. However, U.S. residents bought $34.9 billion in long-term foreign securities. The data also showed an increase in foreign holdings of U.S. Treasury bills by $9.7 billion and a rise in banks' net dollar-denominated liabilities to foreign residents by $4.8 billion.
