minimum account balance for trading gold

Never really traded gold before (except on a demo account) so for live trading, I would like to know a realistic minimum account balance I would need to have before I can trade the smallest lot size for gold. Thanks

Brokers like FxPro will allow you trade 0.01 lot size of gold with as little as $10 on a 1:1000 leverage account. But, remember that opening a gold trade is not the problem, keeping it open is the real headache. Even on a 0.01 lot size of gold, every pip movement is worth up to $1 so if the market moves against you, the $10 will be blown up quickly.

Many are called but few are chosen 🤣. Gold is the most popular instrument amongst brokers/traders. its trading volume is the highest. The implication is that since every broker can make money off gold trades, they make the entry requirements affordable, so even with $5 you can open a small gold trade. But the killer is that once you are on the losing side of the trade, your $5 cannot sustain you for 10 seconds, you will be wiped out. Gold should only be traded if you have a big account balance.

If you mean margin requirement to open a gold trade, I have seen as little as $5 with some high leverage brokers.

I remember when Habby said gold has sent so many people back from Lagos to their villages😂. Not discouraging you but if you do not have sufficient funds, just trade major fx pairs like the cable

Careful, gold can knock you out if you don't have deep pockets.

I remember trading gold with as little as $10 account balance, but I got stopped out rather quickly

Haha yeah that's the thing with a $10 account, there's basically no room for the trade to breathe. One small spike and you're out.

Gold especially, it moves fast and the spreads alone can eat into a small account. The position sizing just doesn't work in your favour at that level.
