AUDNZD is mainly driven by the relative strength between Australia and New Zealand, so I focus on which economy has the stronger fundamental catalyst.
Fundamentally, key drivers include the RBA vs RBNZ interest-rate outlook, inflation, employment, GDP, and central-bank expectations. Australian commodity prices, especially iron ore, can influence AUD, while New Zealand’s dairy prices and export performance are important for NZD. China and broader Asian demand also matter because both economies are closely linked to the region.
Technically, I treat fundamentals as the directional bias and price action as confirmation. I monitor AUD and NZD relative strength.
The key is not simply “AUD strong = buy AUDNZD.” I want to see AUD outperforming NZD fundamentally and price confirming that strength technically.
