Can I start forex trading with R100?
100 Rand is like 5 dollars so yes, you can probably open a forex trade with that but you might want to stick to 0.01 lot size and also stick to trading the EUR/USD pair because its spreads are always lower if you have a good broker.
Yes, R100 is enough to start with but look for a broker that offers Micro Account which will allow you trade very small quantities of instruments.

Yes, but your trade is not gonna remain open for a long time, because before the market goes up, it goes down and vice versa. The reason you need to trade with a reasonable amount is so that you don't get stopped out when the market is doing it up and down thing.
However, if your goal of trading with R 100 is to learn and not to make profit, then by all means go for it. You can trade a small lot size and feel the emotions of live trading.
For you to start forex trading with R 100 which I estimate to be around $5 you will need to trade with a high leverage forex broker probably 1:2000 type of leverage. Yes, this is high risk but when leverage is high, the margin you must deposit to open the trade becomes low and that is when R 100 will be enough to start trading forex.
Because you will be using high leverage it is likely you will be stopped out easily so you should set a loss limit and when your loss is up to that amount you close the trade.
I want to say that the reason why it is ideal to start forex trading with more than R 100 is so that you don't have to use so much leverage and put yourself at an elevated risk.
Now imagine you started forex trading with R2,000 you will be able to lower your leverage and still have enough money to cover your initial margin requirements. But when trading with a small amount like R100, high leverage is the only way to go and you can blow your account easily.
It depends on what your expectations is from forex trading? why are you getting into it? Are you trying to make R100 in R1 million, or some crazy number like that?
If you are trading for consistency, then R100 is not enough. You will lose it in trying to make big gains from small sum. And you will deposit again & again.
From this question it appears that you are just starting out or thinking about getting into forex trading. My suggestion is, there are so many other professions out there where you can make money with less stress.
If you don't have a well paying job or a business, you should not get into trading. Because in trading if your expectations are not clear, then you will not be able to trade without mental & emotional stress.
Short answer, no R100 is not enough to trade forex for consistent gains. But the broker will say otherwise & allow you small deposits as well.

R 100 may be enough to open a few trades with but along the line, you are going to need to deposit more funds because the market will not always move in your favor no matter how good you are.
Remember this quote from John Maynard Keynes: "Markets Can Remain Irrational Longer Than You Can Remain Solvent".
