Why I am switching to cTrader

« Previous 1 2

I have been trading for over 3 years now and I have good practice with the "regular" trading platforms - MT4, MT5, TradingView. I never thought much about cTrader until my third year of trading when i began to realize the shortcomings of all these other platforms. I began to demand better features and I tried cTrader and was impressed. On this thread I will explain my decision to switch to cTrader and what frustrations I encountered with other platforms before deciding enough was enough.

cTrader users in the community can also share their experiences with the platform, thank you.

cTrader is a cheaper alternative to TradingView

cTrader has the same features as TradingView (except for the large social community that TradingView has) and with TradingView you will probably need to pay a subscription to get a good plan that unlocks all the hidden features. However on cTrader these features come as standard and are free.

Some cTrader brokers offer lower minimum deposit/withdrawal than TradingView brokers

I have used TradingView for over 2 years and I noticed brokers on tradingView either have a low minimum deposit and high minimum withdrawal (a trick to lure you in), or a high minimum deposit and low minimum withdrawal.

But, with cTrader I was able to find some brokers who offer both low minimum deposit and low minimum withdrawal. One of such brokers (which is the one I use) is FxPro and another is Deriv. This is not a form of advertising for them, I am just stating this for educational purposes.

With FxPro cTrader the minimum deposit for Nigerian traders is NGN 5,000 (around $5 while the FxPro minimum withdrawal is $0.

With Deriv cTrader you also see a low minimum deposit of $10 and minimum withdrawal of $10. There are several brokers that support cTrader so you can check their minimum deposit/withdrawals but I am sure of the ones for FxPro and Deriv in Nigeria.

Copy Trading is easier on cTrader

Having used all the other platforms such as MetaTrader & TradingView, I noticed that copy trading is simplified on cTrader and everything is laid out so neatly you can find all the information you want about a Strategy Provider with the click of a button.

cTrader shows you the current trading session

This feature is helpful for beginners, when using cTrader it shows you the current trading session to avoid any confusion.

Seamless integration with Trading Central signals

Although I am not a fan og trading signals I like how my broker was able to integrate Trading central signals into cTrader charts. So the signals just pop up on your charts and it's left for you to use them or not.

Integration of Live Chat With Broker

There is a lve chat icon on the left panel on cTrader which opens up a chat box with your broker. This is a feature I have not seen on other third party platforms like metaTrader and TradingView.

Spot on! TradingView want to charge you for everything but cTrader gives you those features mostly for free. cTrader just needs to work on their charting range so you can view more historic charts

However, let me add that cTrader has charting limitations for example there is a limit to the number of drawing objects you can have on the chart at any given time. Sometimes before cTrader allows you draw a new square or any shape, it will ask you to delete some old ones. I think the maximum number of diagrams you can have on a cTrader chart is 100 at any given time.

Yes, I am aware of the charting & drawing limitations of cTrader. I know TradingView is better than cTrader when it comes to charting but when it comes to order management cTrader is better. I was using TradingView but most brokers that support local payment methods and offer low minimum withdrawal are not on TradingView. So, cTrader is my cheaper alternative

@Pierre I agree cTrader falls behind when it comes to charting, but at least it is better than MT5. The most important feature I found in cTrader for beginners, is the trading session tool which tells you which session you are trading. This tool is simply ahead of its time.

Taking Partial Profits Is Easy on cTrader

One of the reasons I started using cTrader was because it is easy to take partial profits on an active trade without having to close it.

The way it works is you can set your TP for 0.01 lot size at different price levels. So, if you opened a 0.05 lot size trade, you can set five different TPs for 0.01 lot size each.

TP1 for 0.01 lot size

TP2 for 0.01 lot size

TP3 for 0.01 lot size etc.

Printing a PDF version of your daily account statement is also very easy on cTrader, this helps you analyze your performance after every trading day
