Take partial profit or adjust SL: which is better?

So, guys I would like to know what to do when I am in a profitable trade. Do I take partial profit or do I adjust my stop loss to secure some profits? Which is a better risk management technique? Thanks

Taking partial profit seems the better technique because you get to leave the stop loss at the point where it was.

Taking partial profit is better but so many new traders dont know how to do it. The feature is not available on MT4 and on MT5 it is kind of technical to do. On cTrader it is rather easy though. Why I prefer taking partial profit to adjusting SL is because once you adjust your Sl, you expose yourself to the risk of getting stopped out when there is a spike in volatility.

Well, i choose to differ from the response of others. I prefer adjusting my stoploss instead of taking partial profit. Personally, i target a minimum of 1:3rr for each of my trade. The moment i am on 1:2rr, i will breakeven my trade. When the trade gets to 1:3rr and i notice base on technicals, it has what it takes to give me profit, i adjust my stoploss to cover 1:2rr profit of the trade.

Yea you said you differ but you have not said why adjusting stop loss is better than taking partial profit. What is your reason for differing? What makes adjusting a stop a better risk mgt technique than taking partials?

Pls read what i wrote carefully. I told you how the trade are managed if I’m adjusting my stoploss instead of taking partial profit. Adjusting my stoploss helps me to secure more profit as revealed by my technical analysis.

Note: Taking partial profit reduces the total money, you should make but adjusting stoploss still affords you the opportunity to make more cos you haven’t reduced the lotsize. Taking partial profit reduces your lotsize which invariably reduces the amount made.
