What the most challenging part of trading?

The most challenging part of trading isn't the market, it's mastering yourself

The market tests your patience, discipline and emotions every single day.

The most challenging aspect of trading is mastering yourself. Trading goes far beyond technical and fundamental analysis—you can be highly skilled in both and still struggle to succeed.

Forex trading ultimately exposes you to your own behaviour and reveals your true character. Let me share an experience: I once entered a trade with $5 and was up $40, but I didn’t close it and eventually gave it all back. What took over in that moment was greed. If someone had told me I was a greedy trader back then, I would have strongly disagreed.

Self-mastery is a skill on its own, and it is essential if one truly wants to succeed in trading.

Hello Godspower, good to see you here. So, it depends on who you ask right? For me I would say the most challenging part is accepting a loss without pushing back

Knowing when to exit a trade has been the most challenging for me. Sometimes I will be up several pips but wont take profit, only for the tide to reverse

Funny how I've been through all this!

I always feel a victim of placing my tp very far, I wasn't always considering the nearest liquidity

Trading removes indiscipline and put in you patience and time awareness, to know when to execute and when not to

Exactly 💯

There was a time I'd always feel place trades every single day. Even on days where market will be so dull and there's no setup, I'd always force setups from no where.

Market gives opportunities every single day but not all opportunities are worth taking, because some might be a trap and some might be a genuine opportunity if I say trap like the stop loss haunts that occurs most times , okay take a look at this chart image example on gold at wednesday last week after the fed rate cut news you can see a little rectangle I marked there that was a first point where a sell opportunity was available but later price started going up and swept above that previous sell level at 4369 and broke below, so you see there was an opportunity but not the right time, so timing too is also important when it comes to trading

Yeah true

Also understanding market structure will help you to know where to sell or buy from.

Look at my chart on Gold. Price was just taking out liquidity on that range so that it can continue the sells.

From my little experience I have actually noticed that before price moves to an opposing liquidity level it must first sweep a liquidity level first looks at the images they are all having same patterns of liquidity sweep before the price movement occured like the first usdcad image sweep occured above the 1.36912 highs

Not getting beaten down by the outcome of a single trade. And walking away when you feel the market is giving you a hard time.

Yeah that's from internal liquidity to external liquidity and vice versa. Price moves from liquidity to liquidity

So what is your named strategy how can you show it on the chart like mine:

sweep

Breakout

Retest

In 3 words and let me show you on the chart

I have marked it out

Reference at 4369

The red circle is the sweep

The bearish movement down is the breakout

The yellow circle is the retest simple

SMC revolves around market structure, liquidity and POI.

Looking at my chart, you'll see that price swept liquidity, led to a break of structure, provided internal range liquidity. And price came back to taken internal range liquidity before going for the external high (liquidity).

You can see the impulsive move and correction move. The correction move retraces to take internal range liquidity. After that, it aims for external.

You are correct but mine is definitely not SMC, check my post I always take sessions into consideration in anything am trading and time too so that alone should notify you that I don't trade SMC, and I don't look at IRL I only look at ERL before trading, refer to this image of my session consideration, on gold, I marked from 4198 my Asia high to 4096 my Asia low and I also considered the time the range was formed and that is how I mark my own Asia range not like the normal Sydney open

I also trade sessions too!

I mostly use Asian range as liquidity for London and New York session.

SMC is a concept of trading you can use to trade any other strategy

I didn't say SMC is not good but all am saying is that there is depth knowledge about what am doing than what you see on this chart, the accumulation manipulation and distribution, like the gold chart you are seeing I am not scared of news infact news is my best driver that's why am telling you other things are involved
