London Session Forex Time in Nigeria

I would like to know when the London forex session starts in Nigeria. I know its in the morning but I want to know the particular hour. I would also love to know the logic behind the London forex trading session starting at a certain time.

If you were living in London then the forex session would start by 8 AM but since you are in Nigeria, the London forex session will start by 9 AM because Nigeria is 1 hour ahead of London.

The London session will also end by 5 PM Nigerian time. Between 2 PM & 5 PM, both London & New York sessions are going to be open simultaneously so you will see more liquidity and lower spreads.

London session starts in Nigeria by 8am during daylight savings months, and at 7am during non-daylight savings months.

Starts by 8 in the morning, but you should be on your trading system at least one hour before that time.

I trade the London session every day and I can tell you that after DST is over, London session opens from 9 AM. However, during DST London opens by 8 AM.

DST or Daylight Savings Time is when Nigerian time is the same as London time but after DST Nigerian time becomes ahead of London time by 1 hour. DST is from the start of March till october ending every year.

To cut the long story short, during DST Nigerian forex traders should wake up early to trade the London session open by 8 AM. After DST, Nigerians should wake 1 hour later to trade the London open by 9 AM.

Please is the Frankfurt session a part of the London session?

Frankfurt starts one hour before the London session. Frankfurt session is like Sydney session while London session is like Tokyo session; just like Sydney and Tokyo make up the Asian session, together Frankfurt & London make up the European session.

Modern trading platforms like cTrader also show you which trading session is currently on. But you need to set the cTrader timezone to London time (not Nigerian time). For instance currently London timezone is UTC but from March ending, the London timezone will change to UTC+1.

From March ending till November first week, London session in Nigeria will start at 8 am. But for now, London session starts by 9 am in Nigeria. The difference in time is because of something they call daylight savings which is observed in London. So, once it is the last Sunday of March, update your trading platform timezone to UTC+1 because right now it should be at UTC.

How do you change timezone on MetaTrader please?

London Session: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Uk Daylight Saving Period (UK on BST – usually late March to Oct)

London Session: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Nigerian time)

It essentially depends on what timezone London is using at the moment. So, ask yourself what is London's timezone now? As we spreak, London is using UTC time while Nigeria is using UTC+1 this means that London session will start by 8 am in London and will start by 9 am in Nigeria.
