Infact I had same idea but I advise caution because that could be a pullback or true reversal, but with the strong rally up and strong bullish candles with high momentum, I decided to plan differently, and that was what gave birth to the chart marking you see, infact that trade was what I wanted taking same thing you did, but i don't chase entries i apply patience and discipline

Interesting discussion! I'm still building my approach โ€” what's worked for others here?

Welcome we are really pleased to have you here.

We discuss about gold setup, we are all different traders with different concepts but what connects all traders is clarity, what am seeing on gold is what you should also see as a trader that's the clarity and you should also have validation and invalidation levels, as a trader, so for gold today I have marked out different levels and I am trading base on breakout and retest, because it works everyday, when price gets to a support level it either breaks that level or test it and reverse, so that's just the idea behind it.

Gold set-up: I marked the 4032 as a previous level where price had a previous reaction it's a resistant area, but price came from the support so strong printing high bullish momentum candles so I am seeing the buyers taking control but I can't buy so I wait for price to pullback a little then break out of 4032 then a retest of 4032 will be my buy entry , then for invalidation of my buy idea, is if price breaks below 3962, with a full body close , then I will know the bullish movement was a fake move, that's just the idea, hope it helps

Here's my take on this... using technical analysis on gold work on 40% of the time.

Gold is a pair that moves base on sentiment, but it has clearer structure, but the percentage is not really on its technical analysis but how well you understand the gold trading, before saying 40% you have to check your personal psychology in approach, your understanding on fundamental, right now I understand that gold is overall bearish and what is pushing gold or driving the market one is fear and headlines not really data, you see why dxy is going down right now investors are removing their investments little by little because of the fed rate stance promise of rate hike in future that is cooling off, because now base on different headlines fed needs to makes some policy changes because of some of the economic issues the us is facing, so this put much uncertainty, and investors are gradually pulling out on dxy little by little to gold and stick so as not to get hit by the uncertainty coming, NFP is one of the job data that is very useful, the market awaits it's data to make next decision, so all this understanding gives more edge and you see the winning percentage increasing, look at my gold setup for the day 3962 is my invalidation, above 4032 is my buy confirmation

Exactly ๐Ÿ’ฏ

I had to wait for this setup too.

But are you out on it because it's reversing, right now but I am seeing a sweep above 4037 or a break above it before 5pm

Gold is showing some manipulative move trying to sweep the previous high at 4037
